What is the turnstile?

The turnstile is the rule that funds leaving one shielded pool for another (or for the transparent pool) must publicly reveal the amount crossing. It is Zcash's supply audit: because every exit is counted, a sealed pool can never leak out more ZEC than went in — any hidden inflation would be exposed as the pool drains.
